Kaitlyn DeLong

Research Historian

Work at HAI | Legal

As a historian, content writer, and collection manager, Kaitlyn works to provide the best historical resources possible for our clients. Her past experiences in provenance research and collection management inform her approach as she compiles information, catalogs objects, and performs due diligence.

With the goal of making history accessible to all, she strives to present compelling narratives filled with detailed and accurate facts. Kaitlyn understands that the past is complex and nuanced, and working within eras of difficult history, embraces all aspects of the historical narrative instead of glossing over less than perfect circumstances.

Path to HAI | Legal

Prior to joining HAI | Legal in 2021, Kaitlyn worked across the art and museum industry as an auction house cataloger, a museum collections assistant, and a research specialist for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. While specializing in provenance, repatriation policy, and colonial collecting, her experiences have introduced her to a wide variety of historical subjects and cultural policies.

In 2018, she graduated from the University of Glasgow with a master’s degree in Art History: Collecting and Provenance. Her undergraduate degree was earned at the University of Richmond in 2015, where she graduated summa cum laude with majors in International Studies and Political Science.
