Work at HAI | Legal

Sophie joined HAI in September 2023, working as a temporary archives assistant for the Archives and Information Management team, dealing with personal and congressional correspondence. She is so glad to be a part of the community of HAI and the passion she found doing work in this field.

Presently, as a Research Historian, Sophie is working on Litigation projects, which keep her busy through a multitude of hands-on and online investigative tasks. Sophie loves outside-the-box creative solutions and getting to the bottom of a mystery.

Sophie graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2023, majoring in History and Anthropology, and minoring in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She wrote her undergraduate honors thesis on the history of cosmetic surgery and its effect on modern day United States. While at SMCM, she participated in the leadership of the Student Government, the Programming Board, the History Honors Society, the Anthropology Club, as well as tutoring for undergraduates, and writing occasionally for the student newspaper. Needless to say, she likes to stay busy.

Sophie started her dual-masters program for History and Library & Information Science in May 2024, at the University of Maryland. She is so grateful for this journey in this career so far!

Sophie is from Rockville, MD. She has visited 12 countries and 26 states, and plans to do way more traveling in the future! She loves cultural traditions – especially local foods!
